Anyhow, here are some pictures of October to prove that we're alive :)
Penny cried. Of course, she got a hat from Jane.

| Penny all bundled up for the first time. (just a quick run to the neighbors house) |
I told Jane that when her block tower tipped it was time for bed. At that point her block tower was about 5 blocks tall. I have never seen the girl be so careful. She kept going until she ran out of blocks (16!)
Jane and Penny have an interesting relationship. Jane doesn't really love Penny and chooses not to interact with her for the most part, but as soon as Penny cries or isn't in the room with us Jane becomes very concerned for her little sister. It's very sweet, but also very strange. I have included a few photos of the girls together, this will probably make it look like they are really bonded, but I'm just going to call it like it is and tell you that the few pictures you see are pretty much the only times they have come within a foot of each other, which is why I took a picture. Penny adores Jane, by the way, and gets really excited whenever Jane comes near her, it's adorable, but also sad since Jane doesn't really care. Jane likes her sister to be in sight and will immediately ask about her when she is gone (and often request that she be brought back), so we're going to call that love for now.
I walked in and Jane was showing Penny her new toy.

Penny was doing tummy time (lazily) and Jane decided to join.

I'm pretty much failing at parenting two. This was on one of the craziest days. Our house was nuts, Jane was still in her pajamas, I was probably in tears/near breakdown and Jane decided to get herself a jellybean lunch. I was just happy she found food.

Jane was quietly (and kindly) shushing a sad Penny.

Penny was sad. This time the hat worked.

My cute little genius. During her nap she realized that she could push a diaper box by the light switch to reach it.

Jane thinks cribs are for jumping and the rails help you balance. Penny did not like sharing (or being bounced).

Besties.

Jane's favorite past time.

Penny was crying (she usually is, she's a pretty fussy baby) and Jane came over and held her hand to help her feel better. Sorry it's not a better photo, Jane is far more interactive with Penny when I'm not around and I didn't want to ruin their moment.

Silly Penny.

Jane is a crazy good stacker. She fit 16 cans in her tiny doll stroller.

Jane painted a pumpkin for Halloween and LOVED it.

Jane is still a huge Daddy fan.

Every night Jane plants herself in front of the window in hopes that her Daddy will get home before she has to go to bed. We look forward to the day when he has regular scheduled hours instead of coming home whenever he is released.

Jane has adopted Scott's hat. When she misses him she looks for his hat and it seems to make her feel better.

We had the best Fall this year. It was long, drawn out, and completely wonderful. It was a perfect gradual change from Summer to Fall with LOTS of gorgeous leaves for about 6 weeks. I loved it. This was taken at the very beginning on a trip to the zoo.

Penny snoozed through her first zoo trip. [Jane's first zoo trip here]

Of course, rather than look at the animals Jane spent a lot of time pushing buttons.

Love this picture.

Every year we try to make caramel apples. Every year it's a disaster.

Scott at least had some success.

We potty trained... I'm still not sure how I feel about this. I had been thinking about starting Jane pretty relaxed since she wasn't even 2 yet, but when she found the princess underwear I had found on sale she freaked for them. So we started a couple months earlier than we planned and Jane dove head first into it. I was hoping to slowly introduce the idea to see if she was ready since she was so little, but Jane was determined to learn. She grasped the concept right away and did pretty great right off the bat. She had problems when she was distracted, but overall did well.

Penny had her shots the day before we potty-trained so she actually slept almost the entire day, which worked out nicely.

Jane didn't want to have an accident. Her solution was never to leave the potty.

Penny thought the whole day was pretty boring.

Liquids, liquids, liquids!

Eating a snack out of a boot. (Her idea, not mine).

My sweet, happy girl.

Jane randomly asked me to paint her fingernails one day. She had never wanted them painted before so it was strange, but I pulled out the polish and she got excited and held out her finger to be painted. She held still the entire time! So cute. They are drying here and she was being so careful not to touch anything.

This picture pretty much sums up 95% of Jane and Elise's playdates.

Jane does a pretty good job of entertaining herself. Sometimes her methods are... unconventional.

Apparently she wanted a chip.

Loving on sister.

We had a particularly rough day at our house and right before bedtime Janie got a package from her Aunt Crystal. We both needed a pick-me-up so I let her open her presents early. Jane was so cute ripping all of the wrapping paper off. Thanks, Crystal!

Oreos are one of Jane's absolute favorite things. The trouble is that they are terribly messy. So poor Jane doesn't get them very often. She asks for them all the time and I usually say, "not right now, they're too messy." The other morning she very sweetly pointed to the package and said, "Messy cookie, please?"

Penny is such a snuggler. If she doesn't have someone to snuggle with she will snuggle a blanket or burp cloth. When she doesn't have those either she will snuggle her clothes. Babies gone wild!

I felt bad because Jane seems to constantly have a cold. Right before her birthday we had to cancel on another playdate and Jane was super sad. Luckily Grandma Imy doesn't live too far away, so she came and played with Jane. Jane was SO EXCITED, we love Grandma Imy.
