As I've said before, this little girl is ALL SCOTT. I have never craved fruits and veggies before, but they're basically all I eat now.
However, last night I had rushed from work to a meeting to having the young women over for an activity. I had thrown some cupcakes in the oven so that we would have a treat and ended up eating three. Something about not having time to eat dinner. Anyhow, they were topped with pink frosting in honor of our little girl and one of the other leaders also having a little girl.
Normally eating any sort of sweet would make me sick pretty quick and a nasty headache would follow, but last night I felt awesome after eating a cupcake. So I ate another. Then I waited. Then I ate another. I know... a little excessive but cupcakes had never tasted so good and I couldn't exactly whip up a meal for myself with everyone there. Anyhow, our little girl was having a dance party all night. About an hour after I would eat a cupcake I would feel her dancing, kicking, and twirling all over the place. She hasn't reacted like this to any food before. She couldn't hold still she was so excited.
I was so proud. My little girl has learned the joy of cupcakes.

The Case of the Missing Cookie
Last week I pulled cookies out of the oven to let them cool while I ran to pick up the laundry from our basement. When I arrived back at our apartment I found this:

A missing cookie. You don't steal food from a human within a human. I even had left the cookie dough clearly marked.

I suspect this handsome, yet devious character.

Pictures of our Baby
At 19 weeks, 1 day [6/10/11] I went in for an in depth ultrasound to make sure everything is developing a growing right with the little one.
For friends: You are welcome to look at all of the photos, but I completely understand that lots of grainy and blurry and you just want to see the actual baby when it comes out. For this reason this post can be abridged by reading only the first three points.
For family: you are invited to view to unabridged version with all of the tiny things that we can't contain our excitement over. Such as the fact that our child has 5 fingers on each hand.
1. Our baby is perfect and healthy in every way!
2. There is indeed a baby in there and she is gorgeous.

3. She is a she! It's a girl. We were completely shocked, I was convinced it was a boy. But after making the doctor check three different times, I have accepted that we are having a beautiful baby girl and I am beside myself with happiness.
4. Heartbeat is perfect. 150 BPM, heart has all four ventricles, everything is as it should be.
5. The classic alien baby face. Also, our baby has arms.
6. Our baby has a spine, and legs and a head! [and arms, which cannot be seen in this photo]
7. Our baby has hands with five fingers on each.
8. A fist!
9. We are in love.
Our little girl certainly is trouble. During the ultrasound every time the doctor would say, "okay, now we are going to look at the ______ [insert arms, face, belly, legs, etc]" Our baby would hide that specific part. Seriously. Right after the doctor would announce it, she would suddenly shift so that we could not see it. And apparently it's not just our doctor, as soon as I said "oh! I saw her little nose! can we go back?" Our little girl moved her hands from by her side and literally grabbed her nose so that we couldn't see it. It was hilarious.

If she causes this much trouble in the womb, can you only imagine what she is going to do when she gets out? Although I wouldn't expect any less from our baby. We do like mischief in our house, and when two sneaky people have a baby... danger.
And one final story from our ultrasound:
ODE TO GRANDPA BUZZ
The first time we saw her face the doctor said, "oh... her arm is covering it. And her fingers are out?" I am not even kidding, our little girl was making the loser "L" over her forehead the first time we saw her face. We tried to get a picture but I was laughing so hard the doctor didn't get one in time. Our doctor was impressed with our little girl's finger coordination, but we knew that Grandpa Buzz was up in heaven with her teaching her all sorts of tricks.

My other life.
This morning Scott came in to wake me up around eight o'clock. Yes, I was still fast asleep in dreamland. He managed to coax me into the kitchen where I ate some breakfast, made him lunch, and then snuggled up against him on the couch and asked if we could go back to bed now.
Scott's response was "Are you sure you weren't meant to be some sort of hibernating animal?"
I'm pretty sure he was only half-kidding.
Oh life...
Yesterday while we were out Scott led me to the toy aisles of the store. This happens pretty frequently now that our little one is on their way. We spent our time in front of the Lego display while Scott carefully looked at each set and we daydreamed of a day when we would have enough money to buy some legos for our baby.
On our way out of the toy section I decided that I couldn't walk past the hula hoops without trying them out. This is normal for me, but note that I now have a bump I didn't have the last time I tried hula hooping. Needless to say it was a whole new experience which ultimately ended up with Scott and I laughing with a hula hoop around my legs.
Later on I was running to try to catch up with him (we had been briefly separated while I wandered to the make up aisle). Scott turned and saw me and his whole face lit up with a big smile. When I reached him he said "Wow! you really look like a pregnant lady!"
I know he meant this as a compliment because I kept telling him that I was ready to have a bump to show for this pregnancy and he was excited to feel like there really was a baby in there, but it sounded pretty bad. Once again... we laughed a lot.

Severe Weather Warning
Yesterday we woke up to a Severe Thunder Storm Warning. We were pretty excited.
No one does thunder storms like the midwest. Sure the southwest is neat to watch the thunderstorms dance across the desert, and the east where you can watch the lightning over the ocean, but it is only the midwest where it feels like you live in an electric cloud.
Here thunder is not a distant boom, but instead a machine gun aimed straight at your house. Thunder sounds like a loud "CRACK" that will wake you up out of a dead sleep even if the storm is 15 miles away. I blame this on the lack of mountains.
However, while I am not a fan of these storms during the night, I ADORE them during the day. They are incredible! Thunder and lightning are everywhere.
Last night the storm started while we were on a trip to walmart, we stopped in the middle of the store to look up and see through a little skylight the trauma outside. We could see flashes and the thunder was so loud it practically shook the entire store. When the rain would pour I could yell to Scott and he would still have no idea what I was saying. It was SO LOUD. It was amazing. I love a good storm.
On our way out we had to book it to our car, we ran through puddles that went up to our ankles and we sopping wet when we got to our car. We laughed a lot.
Scott was brave and drove the twenty minutes home while I got to crane my neck out the window to watch the storm behind us.
When we got home we emptied out the groceries as fast as we could and then turned all of the lights off, pulled up chairs and our favorite treats (hot chocolate for me, ice cream for Scott). We just sat staring out our giant front window for the next hour and a half. It was pretty fabulous.

Brat Fest!
Over Memorial Day Weekend Madison hosts the world's largest Brat Festival. Scott finished classes the Thursday before (hallelujah!) so we thought that we would head on over and see what all the hype is about.

I wasn't going to let Scott and I leave without purchasing a giant bag of kettle corn.
This picture is for my mom. This was one of many giant tents dedicated to Heinz ketchup.
The volunteers had fabulous shirts. Excuse the terrible pictures, I was totally be a creeper about taking them.

The Weinermobile was there! I was so excited.
Rows and rows of grillers. We arrived on the second day and they had already sold 43,000 brats. All of the money goes to charity, so it's pretty fantastic, I'm not going to lie. We had a wonderful time.
