Out and About

We found this treasure at a mcdonalds in milwaukee.

We had to read it several times before we figured out that the manager wasn't just trying to get money to post bail, and that it was a strange twist on a fundraiser. Oh milwaukee.

What we do on the weekends

We went to Organ Piper Pizza where we ate delicious pizza and listened to really loud organ music with flashing lights. It looked something like this:

And then we:

went with these lovely people:

The Duncans

and the Hansens
to a Hockey Game! (Milwaukee Admirals)

This was the closest thing we saw to a fight.

Where they did crazy things like this:
This is a human slingshot. They put people inside of it and then fling them across the ice.

This is at the other end of the ice. The person who got a strike won.
And we risked our life for it all. This was directly in front of our seats (5th row). You will note that the glass stops just to the left of us. You will also note all of the marks from when the puck has hit the glass VERY close to the edge. I stayed awake just to make sure my face was in tact when I left. (Insert John Hewitt HERE: "A tire came and hit Mary in the FACE!")

We also like little things. This is Rascal, the tiny version of the Milwaukee Admiral's mascot.
And tiny goalies. No, this kid is not in the NHL, but between two of the periods they brought out a kids hockey team and the goalie was so small that he didn't have to duck to get into the net. We did not witness him save a single puck that night, but can you blame him? I don't think he could have blocked one if he had laid down completely sideways he is so small.

What I do all day...

Really I go to work and grow a baby all day, but sometimes Scott thinks I sit at home and eat truffles on the couch.
Maybe this is because when he is doing homework at night I find myself doing useful things like this:

Hannamananamana.

As a birthday surprise (yes this is a late post) one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PEOPLE in the whole wide world came to Milwaukee! I about peed my pants I was so excited.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Miss Hanna Dunning: (not to be confused with an upcoming action hero)
We did lots of fun things. We went to the Domes...
Hanna confused a cactus with a popsicle. That was a lesson hard learned.
She was assaulted by this plant. This is her face of genuine shock when it had tiny burrs on it that weren't very kind.
She adopted a giant caterpillar.
We found a tree depicting our story (make big to see edits). We started out as one trunk. Which split into two people named Hanna and Sarah. Later Sarah's trunk split into two whens he met her other half Scott. Between her and Scott a teeny tiny branch started-- Baby B.
We met an angry plant.
We learned that Jasmine was the real Princess and the Pea. And that the Domes are on a budget.
Hanna met the man of her dreams. Nice and tall.
We took a picture for Darcy.
Hanna went on a milwaukee adventure while I was stuck in class.
She met The Fonz.
She looked gorgeous.
She learned that Milwaukee wishes it were Seattle. (Our public market does not even compare to Pike Place-- for the record).
Snow!
We also had to show her our favorite part about Wisconsin. The custard.
Scott loves custard. Obviously.
Hanna also highly approved. We also introduced her to deep fried cheese curds (don't judge-- they're delicious).
And the best Bavarian Bismarks in the world! Surprisingly from a grocery store.
soooo delicious. Sanjuro likes.
It was an amazing trip, gone way too fast. Come back, Hanna Lee!

Bugs

For Christmas Scott bought me a parasite. A bed bug to be exact. We totally hit it off. I am now very much in love with my bug. Anyhow, we brought it with us to California for Spring Break (I realize that I am the only person over age 5 who does this). In the shuffle of packing I forgot my beloved bed bug. It was a sad day. Scott's mom, Janet, however, understood my attachment and kindly sent bug back to Wisconsin. I don't blame bug for trying to stay in a warmer climate.

While Bed Bug was on vacation Scott bought me a new bug. This time Human papillomavirus. He wasn't as cute as bed bug, but I like him just the same.
HPV was very excited to meet his new friend.

Scott is building up our parasite collection in hopes that someday our child will play with them and be inspired to become a doctor. We will see. I'm not sure how good I feel about our child chewing on things like the E. Coli virus.

Spring!

Breakfast... yum.

Happy Spring!
Reasons why I love spring:
1. I don't have to put on a hundred layers to walk to my car.
2. I am not freezing all of the time.
3. My face never hurts from being outdoors
4. I can go on walks
5. Fruit is no longer $100/lb
6. Fruit tastes good again
7. Baby animals.
8. All the girls at BYU are incredibly pregnant because they all were shooting for May babies.
9. humidity! or I don't have to go through tubs and tubs of lotion to not feel like sand paper.
10. flowers!
11. green grass.
12. People in Wisconsin aren't afraid to be outside anymore
13. I don't have to clear off my car or wait 30 min while it heats up because it is -7 outside.
14. I have a good excuse to eat custard
15. I can eat outside
16. Scott will go on walks with me
17. I can use milwaukee parks again (best parks ever).
18. I can open all of the windows (when its above 50)
19. I don't freeze at my friends houses because they keep it at 65.
20. I can sing and dance and don't feel a fool because I know the rest of wisconsin is doing the same thing.

Dear Baby

Words cannot explain how excited I am to meet you. To get to know you. To feel you move for the first time.
Every morning I wake up, look down at the tiniest of baby bumps, and sigh knowing that I didn't dream it all. I'm so scared to lose you.
Daddy makes sure you eat real healthy. He says that if you eat veggies in the womb you will like them later on. I don't know if he made that up or if it's true, but either way it tricks me into eating healthier for you. (even if all I want is french fries...)
The other day I tried laying down for a nap and he came up and gave my belly a big raspberry. I didn't appreciate it but he looked at me and said, "hey, don't interrupt. I'm playing with my baby."
I couldn't argue with that.
I know we keep telling you that we can't wait to meet you, but the truth is that we can. The only baby things we have are two outfits your Aunt Hanna bought you, so we need more time to get ready. Also we want you to be properly developed, so stay in the toasty belly for at least six more months, okay?
We love you so much.

Surprise! (yes. this can only mean one thing)

Remember this day? Well this picture was taken around 8 or 9 at night. Around 1:30 AM I woke up because my muscles were cramping. Big time. As in I couldn't hardly move it hurt so bad. It had been moderate for a day or two, but I didn't think too much of it. I cramp pretty often.

Anyhow, life had a fun surprise for us.
Mind you this is the middle of the night. I believe Scott's wake up went something like
Sarah: "um... Scott? Can you wake up for a second?"
Scott: *groggy grog grog grog*
Sarah: "You might want to turn on the light."
Anyhow. I handed Scott the pregnancy test. It was a very good surprise.

Here is our little bugger. Expected to arrive on Halloween 2011. Scott is hoping we end up going to 41.5 weeks so we can have our baby born on 11/11/11. We will see. I have a feeling I will be so anxious to not have a giant baby inside of me that I won't last that long.
Our baby came to Disneyland. Which meant that Scott was super picky about what rides I was allowed to go on. I think future doctors might know a little too much about everything that can go wrong in pregnancies. We spent most of the day trying to find a onesie that said: "I went to Disneyland for the first time as a fetus and made it so my mom couldn't go on any good rides." We couldn't find one.
And finally, we leave you with an updated family photo.

Disneyland!

I have this wonderful habit of convincing Scott that whenever we are in California we absolutely need to go to Disneyland. Apparently it's much more exciting to the kid who lived far away from Disneyland than the kid who grew up in Southern California an hour away.
Anyhow, we went. And it was FABULOUS.
We met Indians.
I jumped for joy. Repeatedly. This photo is censored for an improved viewing experience. No one needs to realize just how pale my stomach is.
I tried to convince Scott to let us move to the castle.
Add Imageor Toon Town...
he didn't go for either.
Scott's favorite moments were the following:
#1. When I asked a complete stranger in line at Indiana Jones for hand sanitizer because I saw it poking out of his bag and I had forgotten mine. (for the record, he happily obliged.)
and #2. The following (caught on film)
I told Scott we couldn't leave Disneyland without cotton candy. I had been daydreaming about it for way too long, and what kid leaves an amusement park without pure sugar? Not this one.
Anyhow, when I got to the cart I asked the purveyor to find the biggest bag he has. Because I wasn't going to pay 4.00 for Cotton Candy without getting the absolute most for my money. This led to him pulling out each cotton candy bag, comparing the size, and leaving the biggest ones out for my choosing. I was pleased. Excellent customer service. Taking pity on the poor people who spent their last 4.00 on pure sugar.
Success.
So worth the embarrassment it caused my husband.
