This week she randomly woke up, went to her closet, pulled out this dress and asked me to put it on. She then went about her day dressed as a princess.
Yesterday I was working on dinner and I heard the piano, I poked my head in and saw that Jane has climbed up onto our stool, turned on the piano, started the demo (which plays music beautifully), and was pretending to play and sing along. She even was looking at the sheet music I had up. It was completely adorable. I love how much she loves music.
Jane also insists on doing very strange things. I suppose this comes with being a kid. She would only eat her bread off of this block and she would get very grumpy when it fell off.
I continue to grow and have become exceedingly pregnant. (26 weeks here)
Scott continues to be incredibly handsome. Also, hey Crystal! I gave Scott this haircut! (under close supervision of a trained neighbor).
Scott takes good care of his girls. Yesterday he barbecued for us, TWICE! Someday we will get him a real grill, but for the time being, this tiny one does the trick.
Jane has Scott wrapped around her little fingers. She was lying on him having him feed her chips.
Scott bought me tulips :)
Jane and her Friday Buddy are hilarious together. They are absolutely the best of friends and they come up with the funniest games. They were pretending this was a car and kept telling me "bye bye!"
Then they wrestled and jumped on the couch while giggling hysterically. We love having Jane's buddy with us and will be very sad when she moves away.
Yesterday was the first day of the year that we were able to go outside without sweaters! It was amazing. I had a crazy intense migraine but refused to take my meds because I had every intention of driving and enjoying the sun. Stubborn, I know. But it allowed us to enjoy the gorgeous 65 degree weather at the zoo with our friends instead of inside watching movies with me lying on the couch. Thank goodness for coke.
This is the love of Jane's life, Elise. Elise lives downstairs and they are the BEST of friends. It is adorable, Jane thinks they are sisters and is upset anytime they aren't playing. Luckily for me, her mom is awesome so we hang out daily. Win-win.
Of course there were exotic animals but the girls mostly wanted to spend time looking at fish, throwing sticks, and chasing ducks. Plus the lake had melted so it was much prettier to look at than last time.
Another bonus of having the Pugh's next door, they are having a baby boy only a few months ahead of us! (Emily is end of May, I am beginning of August).
Jane is such a girly girl. She loves these pearls I bought for her Easter basket and has been wearing them lately. She wore them to church (because I accidentally broke her tiara on the way out the door which was her original accessory of choice) and now wants to wear them every day. Ironically she was watching the garbage truck during these shots... another love of hers is trucks, but only because she knows Dad drives a truck so they must all be magical.
She also is really big on belly buttons. Probably because she has such an impressive little outie and mine is on a baby belly (and currently an outie) so they are far more exciting than the average innie.
Gorgeous girl.
My mother is going to hate this, but I was terrible at taking photos while in Utah. Jane NEVER left my side. She would only sleep when I slept, which means that she got 9 hours of sleep instead of the normal 14. Awesome. Also Jane's reaction to sleep deprivation is hyperactivity. Just ask people who saw her during the trip. We tried to skype with Crystal and she literally just saw a blur on the bottom of the screen the whole conversation. That was Jane running back and forth. Yeah... her pregnant mama was pretty darn exhausted and taking pictures was not as high on my priority list as staying sane and keeping Jane safe/fed.
We got to see lots of family, which was wonderful. I hate being so far away from everyone.
When I say Jane would only sleep when I slept I mean it. In fact, she would only sleep directly on top of my face.
She makes it look cuter than it feels. It feels a lot more like damp suffocation.
When she wasn't directly on top of my face she was snuggling her baby sister (who would stay up to kick her sister, so sweet).
The visit, however, was a huge success. We spent lots of time with Katie and Jason and managed plenty of snuggle time with the boys. Jane was an awesome little helper with the boys and quickly became very distraught whenever they fussed.
Jane helped her Aunt Katie bath the boys.
I left my cafe rio unattended. Big mistake. Jane quickly took over and devoured THE REST of my salad. Notice both her fork and my fork hard at work shoveling food into her tiny mouth. Good call, Janie.
We tried to get a picture of Jane with the boys. Actually we tried several times. Most of them look like this:
Bonus points if you can find the angry toddler, concerned infants, and parent involvement.
The rest of the pictures of all of them looked like this:
It turns out toddler are AWESOME at posing for pictures.
haha. no.
anyhow, we did manage this:
That little gem was a miracle. I know no one is smiling, but no one is crying, so we're calling it a success.
Mostly Jane just wanted to be thrown into the Love Sac.
The boys, however, were tiny angels. So stinking adorable.
Jane was always eager to help the boys with whatever they needed. Which 90% of the time Jane thought was binkies.
But sometimes between a toddler's poor aim and a wiggling infant, the binky just doesn't make it in the mouth. Close enough, right? Jane was quite proud.
Any time the boys fussed Jane would run off and take care of them. While I was eating lunch she disappeared and I found her giving Bennett his bottle. Shortly after this the bottle ran out and she ran straight to Katie's room to her breast pump for a refill. Sweet girl. She is going to be a champion big sister. Her only trouble will be the confusion of why she only has one baby.
In other news, Jane really likes playing in oatmeal.
Sorry in advance for a very scattered post. I am posting with a toddler attacking my arm.
I sent Scott to the store for a couple of things and he came home with these gorgeous daffodils! He knows this year is hard on me because I miss Skagit Valley and our gorgeous tulips so it made my day when he brought me flowers.
Jane is really into putting on headbands lately. Her favorites are Minnie Mouse Ears and a headband that makes her look like a flower. Both crack me up.
Scott got home from work early on Friday so he took us out to the zoo!
Jane ran over to this gorilla and immediately began kissing it. She LOVES animals.
Jane is far more hardcore than she lets on.
Stomping on the snow pile. In March. Enjoy the view of the FROZEN lake behind her. Winter is getting old fast.
We actually did a good job of celebrating a holiday! This is pretty big news considering Scott and I regularly forget our own anniversary. I was not, however, awesome at documenting our events, so you will have to forgive me.
Jane went Easter egg hunting with our neighbors. We did a practice run that morning that actually she did awesome at. But after already picking up eggs in our living room she just seemed irritated that she was having to clean up eggs again outside.
She did pick up three on her own. We let the other neighbors have the rest of hers because she just wasn't interested.
She really just wanted to ride this bike.
Here is Jane in her Easter dress. She wouldn't stop dancing for a picture, it was adorable.
I actually went all out and made ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, cream corn, and chocolate cake for Sunday Easter. We even invited friends over :) But naturally I only remembered to document the chocolate portion of the meal.
Jane spent a lot of Easter weekend snuggling with her Daddy.
and throwing random fits.
We also did Easter baskets, but I forgot to take pictures. Jane got a baby doll, bubbles, two books, a water bottle shaped like a tiger, sunglasses, and a bag of m&ms. Scott got pens, reeses pieces, a tooth brush, tic tacs, crunchy peanut butter, and a hand exercise thing (I'm sure there is a word for it, I just don't know it). I got a new wallet, sunglasses, and dove dark chocolate.
Liebster Questions
So a while back a good friend of mine nominated me for a Liebster award. I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to answer your questions, but I do think it's a fun idea, so here are my answers to her questions.Forgive the weird formatting. I have no idea why it wouldn't cooperate.
1) In the film adaptation of your life, which actor or actress would you want to be you?
Emma Stone. Because ever since I saw this scene I've decided she is basically me in all my awkward, unsexy glory.
2) How many scars do you have and what are their stories?
I have a scar on my face from slipping on a mcdonalds floor when I was 5. Keepin' it classy.
I also have a scar on my hand from when I cooked my first turkey. Clearly I'm very coordinated.
3) Aside from childbirth (if applicable), what’s the worst pain you’ve ever been in?
Does recovery from childbirth count? Because that was especially brutal.
4) What’s your life motto?
I'm going to have to take from Penzey's here... "Love people. Cook them tasty food."
