Apple Holler

Sorry for the gap in posts, poor Janie has had a rough week. She managed to get a fever (103), croup, ear infection, and is cutting both front teeth at the same time. My poor, sweet girl. There has been lots of snuggling, sleeping, and Tylenol. She was doing better Friday night so we decided to take her on an adventure on Saturday to Apple Holler.
She was happier than at home with all of the fun things to look at, but she still wasn't feeling well.
Fun Fact: Goats have rectangle pupils.
Lyle was feeling brave.

Janie was declared Hay King.
Meeting her royal subjects.
Then she fell in the  random hole in the hay  BabyTrap/LegBreaker.
But she sure did love the apples.
She wouldn't stop eating them.
Our favorites :)
The family that picks apples together...
has more apples than they can eat.

mmm... blooming chocolate.

As Janie was emptying out my pantry this morning (a daily occurance) she found herself a nice breakfast treat.
The fact that it had bloomed (it was not rotten— it just looks like it) did not seem to bother her one bit. She enjoyed it quite a bit before I traded her for a roll.

[ps. I promise all of my chocolate has not bloomed, I used to store it above the stove and I paid dearly for that. This apparently was missed when I tossed the rest of my bloomed chocolate.]

Janie Eats [Weekly Goodies... but mostly food]

Once I cleaned Janie's room... It was fruitless as three seconds later she "read books"
Jane has been having A LOT of trouble napping lately. So much so that one day I felt the need to document a [10 second] nap because it took me four hours of effort to get her to sleep.
Jane is going through a phase where she likes to crawl around with things in her mouth.
We started feeding her quesadillas... she thinks they are awesome, although she has some [entertaining] trouble eating them.

Scott has been working crazy hours and has been quite sick through it all. Needless to say, he is pretty darn exhausted when he gets home. Scott was laying on Jane's bedroom floor and Jane came over and was snuggling him and being so sweet.
At least we thought so. But it turns out she just wanted his phone #lootingtheweak
Which she promptly held to her ear. We still think she is a genius. Seriously though, genius.

Last night Jane held still [If you have a kid under age five then you can understand why this is a miracle]. Of course I had to take advantage and french braid her hair.

Tonight we fed Jane spaghetti. She liked it a little bit.
Mostly she liked finger painting with the sauce.

Teething Schmeething

Janie is teething. So basically she sleeps through the night, lengthens all of her naps an hour or two, and is a complete joy to be around.

... right? oh right, real TEETHING.

Basically she is miserable and is determined to bring me down to teething land with her. Yesterday was particularly painful and I'm pretty sure by about three o'clock I literally just laid on the floor. I surrendered. Janie found this hilarious and took the opportunity to crawl all over me. Which was, actually, pretty cute.

A good friend will be your backrest while you read/eat some good books.
Until one of you tips over that is...

If there is one thing I have learned about Janie it's that she knows what she wants and she is passionate about it. When she is happy she is REALLY happy. When she is grumpy she is REALLY grumpy. But most of the time she is excited, like REALLY excited. When she was tiny her doctor actually was concerned because she had twice the normal breaths per minute... but then she determined that Janie was just excited every waking moment. Which sounds a little nuts, but she was right. Janie's breaths would slow down as soon as she fell asleep, she had always been really alert and really excited about life.
I love it.
Janie is learning like a fiend lately.
Important things like socks. When I shake them will they stay still or flop?
But mostly... we're teething.
Jane ADORES her "Dada". Since Scott is gone before she wakes up and comes home about 20 min before she goes to sleep, Janie is always very excited to have her Daddy on his days off. I always know because Jane will spend the whole next day singing and babbling about her "Dada". It's completely adorable. Except yesterday Scott did work.
He went to take a shower and Jane spent the whole shower trying to figure out how to get in the bathroom yelling, "DADA!"
Poor girl. She knows a good thing when she sees it.

A Tale of Two Infants

It started out simple enough... Janie was hanging out with her Friday Buddy...
so wish this wasn't blurry.
And then things progressed in a strange manner.

Anyhow.
Janie and I are baking today.
She is pretty excited.

and pretty cute, too.
