Nesting

My sweet baby girl,

I have been busy this week getting ready for you. So busy in fact that I started having premature contractions (again). I have cleaned and sorted and organized. Little one, I even busted out the iron for you. That's how much I love you. You know your mom doesn't iron. Not since burning my arm very badly on one right after I started dating your dad (he gets nervous every time I pull the iron out and half the time it scares him enough that he ends up ironing his own shirts).

But I didn't burn myself once! Not in three days of crazy pressing.

Your clothes are all washed. Your blankets are clean. I have dismantled everything I can and given it a good scrubbin' so things will be perfect and clean for you. On the floor of your bedroom has been a pile of used lysol wipes from my frantic cleaning.

I ironed out every ribbon on your Sunday dresses. I know someday I will just be happy to have you dressed and I won't care if it matches or if it's even clean, but for today, love, your church dresses and rompers are clean, stain-free, and pressed.

When you arrive and everything is suddenly upside-down because I couldn't find my sweats in the middle of the night and you are crying because I can't pull out the boppy fast enough I want you to remember that I did try to make everything perfect. I have a feeling that will go very quickly out the window when you arrive. I can't wait to meet you, little one.

love, mama.

ps. every morning your dad comes in and gently tries to wake me up. Lately I am so exhausted that I can hardly move in the mornings. But you get all excited when you hear his voice that you will wake up (you're still a night sleeper) and start wiggling all over the place. It's pretty darn cute. You sure love your papa.

100th Post! Also Katie's Wedding

Well... Once this handsome man finished his research for the summer I convinced him to spend part of his time off playing with my family in Utah. We had a great time!

I am the super pregnant one. Traveling in your third trimester... Not recommended. Although everyone enjoyed seeing me with a giant belly.
My adorable sister and her adorable children (aka the happiest kids on earth):

We were also able to attend Katie's wedding while we were there! We are so excited to welcome Jason into the family.

My mom posing with Aunt Kathy and Grandma Wolters who came up from Arizona for the occasion.
Katie and Jason with Katie's former mission president and his wife.
Katie and Dad

Also I learned that my Dad cannot keep a straight face while holding Jaxon. I have lots of cute pictures of Jaxon and lots of my Dad making ridiculous faces. At least Jaxon has learned to smile for the camera :) Love you, dad.
Believe it or not these are the most flattering of the bunch. But Jaxon looked too darn cute to not include them.
Also Kaylee checking herself out in the mirror while she brushed her teeth. This just made me laugh, it's a classic girl side glance to make sure her hair is falling just right.

Our Latest Love

Ian's Pizza. I highly recommend this if you live in the midwest. One is located conveniently in Milwaukee... amazing. And this is coming from someone who usually picks pepperoni as her choice.

The Wisconsin State Fair (better late than never, right?)

Back in August, Grandpa and Jenna came into town. Naturally, we had to hit up the Wisconsin State Fair. We had a blast last year and have been looking forward to it ever since.
Handsome and yours truly.
Grandpa and Jenna

This year there was a terrifying ride that flung you and your closest friend into the sky. We did not try it.
Lots of beer. Not for us, but for everyone else.
sooo many people!
Grandpa and Jenna treated us to this fun ride across the whole park so that I wouldn't have to walk back in my pregnant glory.
I thought this was a nice representation of the food here... Mille's Italian Sausage, Deep Fried Wisconsin Cheese, Beer, and Brats.
Deep fried butter.... mmm...
okay. maybe not. more like a nasty coating filled with melted butter and pepper.
Pig races! I entered the pot belly contest, but I didn't win... sad day.
Corn on a stick! Because anything not on a stick does not belong at the state fair. Unless it's milk.
We had such a great time! Thank you Grandpa and Jenna!

Peanut Butter Toast

The last couple of weeks my little girl has tried desperately to wake me up around 3 or 4 am. The goal? Peanut butter toast.

Every night I wake up starving for peanut butter toast. Usually I do my best to roll over and fall back asleep. But tonight I decided to humor the little one and do just as she asked. At first I wondered if I had been tricked. I got up and started walking around and she fell promptly back asleep with the gentle sway of my steps. I laughed quietly to myself at having been sweet talked already by this perfect little person into getting up in the middle of the night, but then I decided that I did still want peanut butter toast.

So I made peanut butter toast. In the middle of the night. With nothing but grocery store deliveries to keep me company. And then I felt a little kick. And another. And another.

My little one was thrilled. Her mama finally listened to her request for peanut butter toast. And then she danced. And kicked, and snuggled, and showed me all of her best tricks.

I think she just wanted some time alone with her mama. No work or other people to distract me. Just me and her.

Little one? I am happy to oblige. I love you through and through and I am proud to be your mama.
