Big Trouble

Dear World,
There are many reasons why Scott and I are best friends. There are also many reasons why we are also arch enemies. This is one of them:

Today I received this email:

SCOTT TO SARAH
"this message is too long. please read and give me a summary in person.
Hey 199th Ward,
So we passed around a sign up for the ward intramural teams today but we wanted to send an email to everyone just in case someone was missed but would like to sign up. We are doing a co-ed soccer team and a co-ed ultimate frisbee team for the ward this term. I'll include the list of people who have signed up for both. We'll need your BYU ID #s in order to sign everyone up on Tuesday morning, so if you have already signed up or want to sign up, send those numbers our way by Monday night so we can get you on the team. It looks like we need more girls for the frisbee team, so guys get your wives to come out and play with you. The soccer team could definitely use more people (that way I don't have to play as much =D). The co-ed soccer begins on May 1 and the ultimate frisbee begins on May 6. If you would like to play, let us know. Thanks!
-Steve Petersen"

I responded with this
SARAH TO SCOTT:
"you just graduated from college. you can read. you just have to sound it out very slowly. someday you're going to be a doctor.

lovingly,
wife."
But because we are best friends as well as enemies, I also included this:
"ps. it said they passed around intramurals sign ups and they wanted to make sure everyone got it so they emailed it. they need more girls for ultimate frisbee and included a list of those who are currently signed up."

However, about an hour later I received this, it was short, sweet, and to the point
SCOTT TO SARAH:
"Thank you servant girl."

Servant girl?!? Oh husband, if I did not love you so much...

It will be a while, but I absolutely cannot wait for this:

and this:

Except combine this handsome face with mine. Which basically means make the eyes even darker, make sure he's got a pug nose, and throw a mop of hair on top.

*sigh*
some day.

Life lately...

When you are poor and in college, you will buy whatever is cheap. So when Captain Crunch went on sale for $1, I couldn't help myself. I bought as many as they would let me. Unfortunately for my poor husband, this is the second time in the last few months that Captain Crunch went on sale... so we have it a lot. At least we like it :) Just an FYI: Scott works for a research lab on campus. He does research on diabetes. This research is performed on rats. Anyhow, he had a work barbecue this week and we were in charge of desserts.
And no, we do not have any sense of propriety.

A Letter to my Teachers:

Dear 1/3 of the SFL Department,
I realize that I am taking 15 credits with you and 3 with my friends in the biology department, but I keep waking up and feeling like death. It's no fun. As much as I have enjoyed [most of] my classes, I absolutely cannot wait for the semester to end.

Dear Husband,
Thank you for loving me always. Even when I keep you awake at night because I like to talk to you. It's not my fault you're my best friend-- you're just wonderful and I can't get enough of you. Thank you for not leaving me at the duck pond when I complain the whole way to school. But you've got to admit, it was indeed very cold, my stomach really did hurt, but please take into account that usually I am crawling out of bed at that time.

Dear Kindergarten,
Thank you for reminding me of how wonderful 5 1/2 year olds are. Especially Josh, who was nice enough to try to catch the water I spilled so that I wouldn't notice.

Dear Katie,
I miss you. Actually I miss you A LOT. I miss shoving pillows up mom's old prom dresses and pretending we're prego.

Dear Milwaukee/Wauwatosa,
I am excited to have FIVE WINDOWS. I am excited to have a bigger kitchen and to fill my house with Ikea furniture. I am excited to eventually stay up in my living room all night with a tiny infant (long way off). I am not excited to see my husband for only a few minute each night after he comes home from studying and working hard, but I will do it happily because it is important to him and I know he is doing it for our family. He always works hard, I appreciate that. But Milwaukee, we're going to let you warm up a little first, okay? We'll see you in July.

Sarah is amazing. Every few days she has extra need for attention. These moments are the best. I always "just happen" to get e-mails telling me school is canceled, work is postponed, or my homework assignment is no longer required. Here are my top 5 favorites in no particular order.

#1
mr. brunson,
the baby rats called and said that it's okay if you feed them later in the day for the next four weeks, they don't mind. They suggest you take your wife to cafe rio and write her paper for her instead.

love,
the rat keeper.
#2
i miss you. can we make pudding tomorrow? i love you. can you please come closer so i can squeeze your toe? i barely can't reach it. kiss, please. pudding, please. love, please. attention, please.

love,
wife.
(I was on the couch next to her when I received this)

#3
I love you more than a manatee loves food.

sincerely,
wife.

For number four and five Sarah actually created a new e-mail address to try and make them more legitimate.

#4
Students in the Nutritional Science Major:
Today is National Consumate Your Marriage Day at BYU. Feel free to stay at home and have relations with your wife. Any absences will be excused by University Policy (see page 543 Policy 48.9).

Sincerely,
Cecil O. Samuelson

Around this time of year we like to celebrate Scott and Sarah's one year date-iversary! Congratulations you two! On this day all married couples are strongly encouraged to stay at home and make rice krispie treats and watch uplifting videos such as 21. This will count as a University Excused Absence. Also, we will not tell your Medical School.

Easter

Lately, I have been on a big cooking spree. It's definately my favorite activity. For easter, I made roast for the first time in my new crock pot. It was AMAZING. Which was a little suprising, considering I had never made it before, and I made it from a recipe I found online HEREIt was incredible. We had Brad and Mariah over to help us devour it. I also made cupcakes in my fancy schmancy new Bosch mixer. They turned out amazing. We have a bunch of cake mixes we need to use before we move so I used funfetti, but then I made this incredible chocolate butter cream frosting from one of my cupcake books. Mariah and I ate it with spoons. That's just how fabulous it was.

Husband

Reasons why I love my husband (in no particular order):
1. He owns his own pair of splash-proof chemical goggles. It's okay, he's going to be a doctor.2. He loves me. Because of this fact, he tends to spoil me. Last week he bought me a Bosch.
3. He is always very considerate. Whenever he wants to play a game, he makes sure it's okay with me if he joins his friends Killface and Frozenhobo in Middle Earth. Well, truthfully, I'm pretty sure it takes place in space and not middle earth, and killface and frozenhobo are no one he knows... he was just playing against them one round and I told him I worry about the games he plays...
4. He let's me spoil him sometimes, too. This is his zombie shirt. Excuse the paper over his face, he was trying to do homework and I was trying to get attention.
5. He reminds me that I am never safe. When he gets tired of studying he gets either a nerf gun or his trusty bow and arrow and hunts me. It makes me laugh every time.
6. He puts up with me. I enjoy taking pictures of him constantly. But especially when I'm stuck in a car. I have about the attention span of a four year old, so I will do most anything for entertainment in the car.
7. He eats anything I make and for the most part, enjoys it. Obviously here he is causing trouble. I had just made that pudding and left the room for half a second, only to come back to him hiding with my bowl of chocolate.

I sure like him a lot.

Scott's Birthday!

I realize all of these posts are very overdue... but it's just taken me until today to put them up.
For Scott's birthday we had Brad and Mariah and their temporary child (Sam) over to help us eat cake. Mariah is in my major (Human Development). She used to be pre-nursing like me. It's kind of ridiculous how much we have in common. She is holding Sam, he stayed with them for 10 days.
Brad is in Scott's major and they work in the lab together, so he sees Brad a lot. They also live just a building over from us.

It's a good thing they're wonderful. We love having them nearby.

Our First Apartment

After tripping around all Winter Break, we finally were able to move into our first apartment together. We couldn't move our things into until after we were married because the apartment wasn't officially available until December 23. So when we arrived home we had to unpack everything from our car (open house gifts and christmas) and then we had to go to both of our old apartments to bring our things home. It was crazy and we had tons to move in very quickly. Thus the mess. It drove us crazy. Which is why in one of these photos, I had finally fallen asleep. Right in the middle of the mess. Luckily I now have a wonderful husband who got me a blanket. Our first dinner in our apartment was Cafe Rio. It is definately my favorite dinner food. I promise our apartment is much more beautiful and organized now. We just haven't taken more pictures of it yet.

California!

Sorry for the crazy arrangement of posts... I'm still learning how this whole blogging thing works. Obviously I'm learning very slowly. I've tried posting many times and this is the first time I have been even slightly successful...
Anyhow: After our honeymoon we went to California to have Christmas with the Brunson's. It was wonderful. I forgot what it's like to have Christmas with one big family. I loved it.
While in California, we went to visit Rick at the fire station where he's a Fire Captain. So we took a few classic Brunson photos...

Honeymoon

Scott's parents sent us to Oahu. We stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki right on the beach. Because we were the customers of the day we were upgraded to a beach-side room. It was gorgeous! We had a great balcony that looked right out to Diamond Head.

Every day we would walk down to a market and buy cheetos and dr. pepper-- life's staple foods.

Scott has a pair of skull pants I have always envied. He won't let me wear them, but because I try to steal them so regularly, he bought me my own pair for Christmas. I don't mind, because now it's like I have two pairs!

At the Polynesian Cultural Center there was a statue. The man before me told his son to go pose "by the fat statue". Silly man. This statue is obviously pregnant. Here is my wishful thinking prego belly. It's probably not hospitable for a small child. I need to eat more donuts before that point.

Scott felt the need to volunteer me for a demonstration. You can tell by my face that I DID NOT appreciate it. I do not like volunteering for demonstrations, Scott however, found it hilarious.

For one of the shows we went an hour early because we noticed that it had begun raining and we wanted a nice dry seat. However, after sitting for an hour, in the rain, a bunch of old ladies asked us if we could scoot over. We tried not to be bitter. If we weren't on our honeymoon... we might have put some ice cream in their pretty white hair. Luckily for them, we were too giddy about being married to care.

I wanted him for Christmas and because I was very very good this year I got him.

Every day on the way home we walked passed the Cheesecake Factory. We couldn't help ourselves. Correction: I couldn't help MYSELF. And Scott couldn't resist helping me out in my cheesecake hoarding endeavor.

We couldn't resist.

I had this song stuck in my head the entire week. It was ridiculous. I can sing it on command. ask me.

We were obviously on the wrong tour bus. Santa drove this one.

We went to Pearl Harbor...

And Scott played with the guns.

This was our view looking down from the balcony. It was perfect, we were close enough to enjoy the nightly fire dancers, but we were far enough up that the noise didn't keep us awake at night. (because contrarily to popular belief, we did sleep. some.)

Our gorgeous sunrise over Diamond Head!

Yup. he's a keeper. He said we can go back some day and engorge ourselves on cheesecake and play on the beach all day. I can't wait! (only nine years, seven months to go!)
