Weekly Goodies

I apologize for the terrible quality of photos here... this week's Weekly Goodies are brought to you by my really old phone
Janie's first pony tail.
Janet wasn't sitting by us in Scott's student lounge. This photo demonstrates our sadness. It also demonstrates my awesome phone camera skills.
and finally... Jane's seduction face.

Jumperoo Love

As Jane's hair gets longer it is starting to lay flat... I'm not sure how I feel about it, I'm so used to her standard bed head mohawk. But it's still pretty stinking cute.

Today Jane figured out her jumperoo. For a while I had some Where's Waldo books stacked under it because the little miss was blessed with her mama's long torso/short legs combination.

But then I realized I had been overlooking the most simple solution of all.
I took off her socks. And it changed everything.
Girlie jumped for half an hour straight. Which is a lot for someone who has only been around gravity for 123 days.

Future ballerina? Hope so.

Breathing Again

Doing our taxes this year was truly a nightmare. I get super riled up when I talk about it, so I'm just going to say that it was very far from an ideal situation. But it's over now.

I was very much in need of a break about mid-afternoon. We spotted our neighbors out on the front lawn and had a little fun:
It was good. I really needed a pick me up. Thank you, Brad and Kjirsten, for embracing our impromptu game.
We were actually very impressed with their aim.
And when taxes were done Jane and I did this:
and it was good.

Narnia Returns/A Tale of Tummy Time

Since last winter was horrific and ran into late May, we had anticipated the worst this year. But we have been pleasantly surprised. It's been pretty wonderful here in the twenties (not single digits or negatives for the most part). It's only snowed a handful of times and when it does it melts pretty quick. I actually was really excited when I saw that it was supposed to snow last night.
I woke up to this:
Hooray for Narnia! ***Corinne? Can you help me remember how to adjust my camera for snow? I know there is a way to compensate for the light meter making my snow grey instead of white and I can't seem to remember how.
We are still in a bit of a panting phase. ["a bit"= full on]
When Jane was a teeny weeny newborn she was a very clever tummy-timer. When she was getting tired she would gently turn her head so that she could not hold her head up, but still be comfortable. Somewhere along the way Janie forgot that, because tummy time now ends looking like this:
*insert really pathetic "save me, mama, I'm trapped" noises*

Weekly Goodies

Here is the beginning of a little segment I will call: "Things I meant to blog about but didn't" except "Weekly Goodies" sounds better.
Without further ado:

Today Jane learned she can breathe through her mouth. No, her nose is not stuffed, she just thinks it's cool.
I see a lot of this cute little pant lately.
Once upon a time we ate smore pizza. it was awesome. just ask our neighbors.
For family home evening we were learning a new skill: latte art. (except in hot chocolate)
Here is our final presentations.
yeah... apparently you do need a latte machine for that.

Jane is finally interacting with toys other than her zebra. Here she and her Bedbug Microbe were playing some intense space game.
She also noticed her jumperoo (borrowed courtesy of the Wheatley's) is for more than just eating. It has toys! Which she likes to stare at intently.
Learning to reach for things is working well for Jane. We didn't have a binky handy so she gently placed her teether on her mouth and started sucking on it like a binky.
I still can't decide if she was being clever or very sarcastic...

Maybe not...

My handsome husband pointed out that I never explained the title of my last post "Going Dark"
What I meant was that since Janet was in town I would be busy being wrapped in her goodness and might not have time to update [see October 2011 for reference].

But I failed to take into account that I update while I am feeding the little miss.

Here is Jane basking in her Grandma Janet's goodness.

Going dark...

I'm so glad I spend enough time watching shows on hulu that I know terms like "going dark".

I got a call from my MIL Janet saying that she would be in Chicago TONIGHT!
I'm basically beside myself with excitement.

[22 hours after this picture was taken I held little miss Janie in my arms for the first time <3 ]
22 hour labor? yes ma'am. I am woman, hear me roar!

The Battle

Scott and I have an ongoing battle...
We both use gmail and facebook, so it's always nice when we are still logged in and don't have to re-enter our email/password. Anyhow, we are frequently logged into each other's because we use the computer about the same amount.

But then we have our own websites that we like to keep up on.

Scott must be winning because when I went to check my websites this happened:

Entering "K" used to immediately pull up Kelle Hampton
But instead of getting this:

I got this:
Entering "CJ" usually pulls up Cjane
But instead of getting this:

I got this:
and I was quickly reminded that boys and girls are different.

**although Scott has stopped caring about facebook. All of his friends are mature and responsible, so it's never been fun for me to peruse his facebook, not to mention that half of his friends are speaking Japanese.
But Scott has recently taken a liking to checking mine because my friends do more interesting things. This is probably because my friends are still in college and young and a little bit unpredictable. Plus I get a bazillion more notifications with comments/photos/etc. For a while there was a little bit of jealousy about my popularity (it was very short lived), which made me laugh even harder when this post came up on my facebook feed:

Jane's Perfect Day

Jane's perfect day would look something like this...
Eating fabric staring at her zebra from Aunt Katie.
This zebra is seriously her favorite thing ever. It plays "Twinkle, Twinkle"/"Baa Baa Black Sheep"/the "ABC's" [believe it or not all the same song] over and over.
It also moves it's head ever so slightly. That is her favorite part of all.
It can turn a very grumpy/back arching baby into a smiling one in .03 seconds.
Let's just say we have seen a lot of this little zebra today...

Two Valentines!

This was the first year I had TWO valentines!
One woke up very, very early to study for his Human Sexuality Exam (a totally legit psychiatric exam. the joy of med school— at least he didn't have his practical pelvic exam tonight like some of his classmates... )
My other Valentine was celebrating for her VERY FIRST TIME!
So naturally she slept through most of it. Just like every other major holiday in her lifetime (except halloween, which she spent being squeezed through a very tiny... doorway.)
She actually slept until 10:30!
A whopping 12.5 hours. straight. that's nuts.
I didn't know what to do. I got eight hours of sleep. I ate breakfast. I worked out. I put in laundry. I watched the bachelor (quality— I know), and I ironed a bazillion dress shirts for Scott's Valentines day present. (so romantic)
it was awesome. except I missed her.
Scott knows that the fastest way to my heart is [lava cakes, but this is a close second] PEPPERONI PIZZA.
(I realize that capital letters are appearing in large quantities, but today was an excellent day. (did you see that? how I'm branching out with the italics there?)
Let's pause to admire the curls once more.
Grandma Janet sent Janie this outfit. Jane thought it was delicious and spent most of the day trying to put as much of the hoodie as she could into her mouth.

Weekend Events

My current favorite picture of the Jane-ster: our little wisconsin-ite.
Greatest pajamas ever? I sure think so.
There was lots of daddy-janie time this weekend. Here janie was trying to show her dad that she is still the tiny 6 pounder he brought home. (don't tell janie... but those are 3-6 month pajamas and they fit all too well.)

our saturday plans:

Three Year Date-iversary!

February 10, 2009
Scott and I kissed for the first time.

February 10, 2010
We were newlyweds and Scott bought me daisies to celebrate.

February 10, 2011
We celebrated differently this year... TMI? maybe.

February 10, 2012
Our little bundle of joy. Blowing pouty raspberries because her mama is doing laundry and her dad is studying. yup. we know how to party!

but really, Scott has a Choose-Your-Own Adventure date planned that the blizzard outside is threatening to destroy... boo!
[this is a toned-down version-- the wind was making it nuts earlier!]

Curls!

Both of my sisters have gorgeous natural curls. This is something I have seriously envied (I somehow managed a stick-straight recessive gene).

Scott, however, also has curly hair! (a well kept secret for those of you who have only seen him buzzed).

Lucky little Jane, it seems, has also got some of that gene. It is slowly getting curlier each day! Check out her post-bath hair from last night.
Her model face. I only took one picture of her face last night and this was what she gave me.
Infant beauty pageant circuit? I'm thinking so. I'm going to call it "Infants eating Tiaras".

Silverware...

Bad News: We are completely out of silverware.
Good News: We ate lava cakes for dinner.

Proof I'm not a slacker anymore...

Admit it. you're impressed. I would like to see you cram every piece of silverware you own into four dishwasher compartments.

Woohoo!

Apparently baking with mama did NOT live up to the hype.

Grasping

Jane can now grasp objects. She then waves all of her limbs around. You'll notice how seriously she takes it. Flailing is not for the weak.

I have been asked about the color of her eyes many times. Here is your answer:
blue. very much blue. No idea how she pulled that one.
and finally: Jane's excited face*
*no explanation on the crazy eye. that's all Janie.
