I've been pretty terrible at updating. Sorry!
Here is a quick picture-less update (sorry so boring)
The girls and I spent 3 glorious weeks in California while Scott worked his tail off on a Trauma ICU Rotation. We basically had the time of our lives and he saved lives.
Jane and Penny continue to be the best of friends. There aren't even words to describe their awesome friendship and how much it has blessed our family. They communicate on a level Scott and I can't even begin to understand, they are almost like twins in that sense. They share a bed now and hate to be apart for any period of time.
Jane recently started pre-school which was rough going at first, but now she loves it. Penny is super grumpy about this. She cries every time we leave Jane and when we pick her up Penny makes a beeline for Jane's cubby and quickly grabs Janes coat and backpack so we can get out as quick as possible and she can have her sister back. But Jane is learning a lot and is enjoying her friends and teacher (Miss Diane).
We have known for a while that Penny has bowed legs. Our doctor has been watching them and at our last appointment decided to send us in for x-rays to evaluate the severity of the situation. Penny was a champ during the x-ray and the techs were fantastic. We learned that her hips, knees, and ankles are perfect (which erases a lot of potential problems), her legs are mirror images of each other (if they were different it could mean tumors or infection), her femurs are "straight as arrows" (not vitamin deficiency or rickets), and her tibias (shins) are bowed. It was the best case scenario for a kid with bowed legs. The tibias will hopefully correct themselves over time, but the doctor will keep watching them and if they haven't self-corrected by age three we will be sent to an Orthopedic specialist. Send prayers they correct on their own. In the mean time, Penny just walks like a cowgirl and is trips a lot, but she takes it all in stride and just cares about keeping up with her sister.
We are loving Texas and really love that it's gorgeous, sunny, and warm. This is definitely my kind of Winter.
