Wisconsin State Fair

I prefaced Penny's birth story with a note to cover the fair later... So I realize it's 2 weeks late, but hey, I gave BIRTH remember? :)

One of our favorite things in Wisconsin is the State Fair. We have gone every year since we moved here, which is pretty crazy, that means this was our FOURTH state fair. Have we seriously lived here that long?
This year we went with Janet, my dad, Imy, and Yemers.

Oh, and remember? I used to be SUPER pregnant.

Jane thinks her Grandpa is pretty awesome. In fact, if you say the word "Grandpa" she will immediately start dancing and yell "Gwapa! Gwapa! Gwapa!" exactly 3 times.

Janet had a feeling the day before that she needed to be in Wisconsin so she flew on out. She clearly was in tune with little Penny because Penny was born two days after Janet's arrival.

The key to doing a fair right is to eat as many deep fried foods as possible. Here Jane is modelling deep-fried peanut butter & jelly.

french fries with cheese and bacon.

While we waited for the racing pigs Janet and I took Jane over to see the animals. She tried to pet and feed every goat but the baby goats were her favorite.

Every year we make a point to see the racing pigs. Every year it's the same silly monologue and presentation, but it's become a tradition. During the show they do a pot belly competition among the audience. Since it's a fair and in the midwest there were quite a few contenders. Of course, I competed but they picked a fake pregnant girl instead. Seriously, the girl shoved a sweater up her shirt. How embarrassing. They skipped over the 9 months pregnant/overdue/in early labor girl.

The fair features cream puffs the size of your face. Scott and I aren't huge fans of cream puffs, so it's our tradition to watch everyone else eat theirs.

Last picture as a family of 3. (Mom, I know you are concerned here because I am wearing a tank top, but I will have you know that I was in early labor before we even went to the fair. My top priority was not dying of heat stroke.)

Jane ate a surprising amount of this giant pickle.

Pregnant lady and a pickle. Classic.

But really it was Janet's pickle, it just was large enough to feed a family of four.

Deep fried cookie dough. Delicious. Think melty cookie dough wrapped in thin pastry.

The fair was a smashing success.

Also I will have you know that I managed to keep down all of those deep fried foods during transitional labor. Which is pretty impressive. Anyhow...
