Amaryllis: A Success Story

Because I know that our two dedicated readers are probably dying to know what became of my amaryllis, I am happy to report that my amaryllis bloomed beautifully.
Thank you to Christine who told me to make sure I didn't over water it, I kept wanting to water it but tried really hard not to unless it actually looked dry.

Things were going pretty well until all four sides bloomed, then the little stem was a little overwhelmed with all of the goodness taking place. It started to lean...

Eventually it tipped all the way over while I was out running errands.
Unfortunately it is the dead of winter and I couldn't find any sticks to splint it with. I thought that a spoon might do the trick. I used some thread to loosely tie the stem to the spoon and it worked pretty well.
Oh, and we are absolutely keeping the birthday banner up until my birthday. It just makes the wall so much happier than the random tiny picture the previous tenant had left us for that wall (we never got around to changing it).
In other news: Scott got new pants. They make me incredibly happy. Excuse the blurriness of this photo, I just couldn't get over how great the expression was.
