Blizzard 2011

For Scott's birthday I ordered him a blizzard. Not the ice cream kind, but the real deal, three feet over night kind. It was amazing! We loved it. Plus we have food storage and a grocery store two blocks away so we weren't too worried.

We will start you off with a photo series I have entitled: "Scott-jumps-into-the-snow-gets-stuck-and-then-proceeds-to-attempt-to-get-out"
Scott digging out our car. Note that the car was cleared off when I arrived home from work the night before around six.
Scott's idea of fun was to tell me that all he wanted for his birthday was for me to run up and over the snow bank on our street. Turns out that almost all of the snow was fresh and I got completely stuck multiple times. Enjoy.

Judging by the leg holes next to me I wasn't the first person to get stuck in this particular snow bank.

Victory!
The front of the building.

It's a bad idea to trip in a snow drift. I am realizing now that almost all of our photos are of us stuck in various snow drifts, but when the snow is 3 ft high it is basically impossible to walk and not get stuck.

This is our car. Poor Nala.
Officially snowed in! Luckily we were able to get the back door loose. (this is the front door)

Scott's birthday breakfast.
On the outside of our window is a tiny ledge that caught snow, when we went to sleep it was about 4 in deep, when we woke up it was up to a foot!
The blizzard around 10 pm the night before. I have never seen anything so beautiful. The snow here falls in individual flakes so it is hard to see until the wind picks it up and then it's completely white. I was mesmerized.
Scott all bundled up.
And now my gift to you: A series of awkward photos-- by Scott.

  1. Way to "make lemonade with your lemons"! The snow looks so beautiful and fresh - much better than the muddy kind we have hanging around here :)
