Peanut Butter Toast

The last couple of weeks my little girl has tried desperately to wake me up around 3 or 4 am. The goal? Peanut butter toast.

Every night I wake up starving for peanut butter toast. Usually I do my best to roll over and fall back asleep. But tonight I decided to humor the little one and do just as she asked. At first I wondered if I had been tricked. I got up and started walking around and she fell promptly back asleep with the gentle sway of my steps. I laughed quietly to myself at having been sweet talked already by this perfect little person into getting up in the middle of the night, but then I decided that I did still want peanut butter toast.

So I made peanut butter toast. In the middle of the night. With nothing but grocery store deliveries to keep me company. And then I felt a little kick. And another. And another.

My little one was thrilled. Her mama finally listened to her request for peanut butter toast. And then she danced. And kicked, and snuggled, and showed me all of her best tricks.

I think she just wanted some time alone with her mama. No work or other people to distract me. Just me and her.

Little one? I am happy to oblige. I love you through and through and I am proud to be your mama.
