6 Months!

Janie had her 6-month appointment yesterday, everything looks great. She is happy and healthy! She enjoys anything crinkly, whether it be my windbreaker or her new favorite toy: an unopened bag of chips. At Dr. Wood's office she discovered that she had been lying on crinkly paper every visit. She was thrilled.

_ 6-Month Stats: | Height 25" [20th percentile] | This explains why all of jane's 3-6m clothes still fit great except Weight 15 lb 6.5 oz [30th percentile] | where her head slips through... Head Circumference 43 cm [65th percentile] _| Janie is SUCH a good baby. --She rarely wakes up at night and when she does she typically doesn't cry or need attention, she just talks in her crib. —She sleeps from about 9pm-8am each night, with only her binky being replaced around 6 or 7am. —She has started solid foods. Rice cereal and bananas she likes, peaches were detested (sad day!) —She can roll belly to back and back to belly, but has yet to do these together and get very far. —She has started being very independent. She would rather play with toys on her blanket than be carried or held (at least in the afternoon) —She still doesn't like loud noises. The vacuum and air mattress inflater are very scary things and she needs to be held when they are going. —She can sit up on her own, but she gets distracted easily and will tip, so we only let her sit up when we are within an arms reach. —Our main form of movement is rolling (once) and then pivoting until we reach the toy we want. —Her favorite toy changes daily. They vary greatly: Amoeba, Dinosaur Book, Bath tub, Rubber Duck, Binky, Bag of Chips, Tortillas, Measuring Cup, etc. (These are all her favorites for the last week or so) —Jane is so happy and loving. She smiles easily and is curious about everything. She makes you work for a good laugh, but once she gets going it's adorable. She has learned she can grab things within a couple of feet and when she sets her mind to something I am shocked at her good grip. Dr. Woods mentioned at one of Jane's first appointments that Jane was a good communicator. I didn't think much of it at the time (she was really little, like 2 weeks or so). But after she mentioned that I saw that she absolutely is. When she is hungry or has a need, she lets you know and one that need is met she stops fussing. When she is happy she smiles. When she wants to be held she stiffens her whole body and picks up her head (bracing herself to be picked up). Janie truly has brought more joy into my life than I ever knew a child could. I completely adore her and she has finally decided that my constant kisses are funny and not obnoxious. Her favorite thing each morning is to see her mom or dad walk into her room. Her second favorite is seeing her reflection in the mirror.
