Sleep Deprivation is Awesome.

So after the last post Jane decided sleep was overrated. She fought naps like you wouldn't believe and refused to sleep at night. For FOUR consecutive nights she opted to SCREAM all night long. After the fourth night I decided it was time for a change. After reading a lot online the only thing I could figure is that Jane decided she didn't like her crib any more. She would scream the second we put her in it but nothing was wrong. No ear infection, no sickness, no teething, she was eating well (a change from before), she wasn't cold, she just didn't want to be in her crib. Luckily we had scored a toddler bed on craigslist about a month ago and it was just sitting in the basement waiting for her to be big enough. We had been putting it off since she is only 17 months and is SO TINY for her size. But something had to be done about the sleep issue. She was BEYOND TIRED and was getting hyperactive even. I recruited Emily's help and we lugged the toddler bed up stairs and set it up.

The first nap started with screaming and ended with Jane asleep on the hardwood right behind her door.

Second nap she was halfway between the door and her bed.

Last night (her first night) we couldn't figure out where in the room she was and honestly, we were just happy she was sleeping, we didn't really care where she was in the room (we had scattered blankets all over). Around 1am I woke up to hear a loud *thunk*. Apparently she had made it to her bed because the sound was her falling out. She didn't even wake up she was so tired. She only cried out twice (for like a minute each) and otherwise slept for 13 hours straight. We were THRILLED. Plus we had a toddler bed success on our hands. I love it when we can figure out what is wrong :)

Jane has been loving her new independence. We hear her go from her door to her bookshelf to her bed several times before she finally crashes.

In other news:
Jane is still a chocoholic and has learned the word "cookie" and "chocolate". She can also reach counters and finds a way to access any chocolate in the house. I promise we didn't give her give cookies... I walked into this scene.

I told Jane if she found shoes we could go to the store. She found shoes... Not quite what I was going for, though.

Jane LOVES talking on the phone lately. Feel free to call her, she will jabber your ear off.

Bath time is a hit. Correction, "playing in the water" is a hit. If you ask Jane if she wants a bath, she will tell you no.

We ended one of Jane's regular hunger strikes with smoothies. Thank you to all of the advice we got on facebook :)

I walked in to find Jane wrapping herself in my scarf. When she saw me she got really sheepish and put it back, I told her she could always play with my scarf, so she put it back on for a picture.

And finally, a side by side shot of Jane and her little sister. Apparently Scott and I have a type ;)
